Huronia Historical Parks operates three of Ontario’s premier historic attractions, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons in Midland, Discovery Harbour in Penetanguishene and Nancy Island in Wasaga Beach. Historical Interpreter (Seasonal)
Seasonal Historical Interpreter position based out of Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and Discovery Harbour.
This role will play a key role in:
- providing historical information for public programs, special events and educational and experiential groups
- leading guided tours and interactive programs for all visitors
- interpreting the history and daily life of either a 17th century Jesuit mission or 19th century naval and military base through accurate storytelling, demonstrations of traditional crafts, blacksmithing, rope work, cooking and other historical practices
- maintaining historic buildings, artifacts, vessels, reproductions and grounds to ensure they are clean and presentable
- assisting with design, set-up and take-down of special events
- research and developing new innovative event and programs plans
- assisting in monitoring and evaluating historical interpretations, dramas, tours, special events, education and outreach programs
- assisting with providing technical direction and mentoring to students
